A total of 5 Acceleration Iowa athletes earned a State Title in this past weeks State Wrestling Tournament, 3 of which earned at least their second title.  Those athletes include David and Robert Walker of Martensdale St. Mary’s.  Robert is now a three-time state champion.  We have 2 two-time state champs as well.  Those athletes are Kane Seeley of Perry and Willie Miklus of Southeast Polk.  All of our state title winners were seniors this year and there is no better way to end a career.  Great work guys we are proud of you!!!

AI athlete and Ames High senior Jenna Power hit a school record 9 3-pointers Saturday night in a 75-35 win over Jefferson.  Jenna has been one of the hardest workers at AI for the past 3 years.  Ames can qualify for the state tournament with a win over Cedar Falls on Tuesday night.  Good luck Jenna!

The #2 Ankeny Hawks defeated Waukee on Friday night to finish a perfect regular season at 21-0.  5 AI athletes compete for the hawks including starters Ted Friedman, Cole Myers, Cory Myers, and Conner Schabel.  Bryan Sumner also contributes as the first man off the bench.  These 5 athletes have spent a combined 18 years training at Acceleration Iowa and have always been the hardest workers in the gym.  Congratulations guys on a great regular season and good luck in the tournament!!

A big shoutout to AI athlete and Ankeny senior wrestler Ross Larson who is now the 3A 195 lb state champion.  Ross completed a perfect 41-0 season with a win Saturday night.  Great job Ross!

Acceleration Iowa Athlete Matt Miller signed with Missouri State University last week and we could not be happier for him! Matt sent this picture with a note saying, “Reggie, I just wanted to thank you for all that you have helped me with through the years, you have been a big part of getting me to this point so thank you so much.” Pictured above in the Middle is Matt with his brother Dan on the right and Waukee Director Reggie Hoegh on the left. Matt has been through the program since he was an 8th grader and has really come a long ways through hard work and dedication. Nothing is more satisfying for us at Acceleration Iowa than when we see an athletes hard work pay off. It comes at no surprise to us that Matt has come this far because he does things the right way and doesn’t take short cuts. We look forward to following Matt and the Missouri State Bears in the future!

As the State Wrestling Tournament gets under way we would like to give a shout out to all of our athletes who are participating.  Keegan Mumma, a senior from ADM, is 45-2 heading into today and will be wrestling in the 152 pound weight class.  Kane Seeley, a senior from Perry, will defend is title from last year as well.  Kane is 44-1 on the season and will be wrestling in the 220 pound weight class.  Good luck to all of our guys! Bring home a title!!

Joel Shapiro won another wrestling tournament last weekend making him a three time district champion. Congratulations Joel, all your hard work is paying off!

Today, Rivals.com release their top 250 football recruits for the class of 2013.  Acceleration Iowa athlete and, lone Iowan, Jake Campos sits at number 204 on the list.  This is a huge accolade to be recognized by a website such as Rivals.com.  Jake is busy all this spring with his college visits and combines.  Jake has been preparing for this busy time with us since December and we are excited to see how it goes.  Good luck Jake!
