Molly Bramble, Kayla Sabotin, Taylor Officer and Emily Brush all did their part to help the Waukee 4×800 team win a state title Thursday! It is awesome to see these girl’s hard work pay off this season! It was also great to see seniors Molly Bramble and Emily Brush get a title, a memory they won’t soon forget.
Maddie Rouw a junior at Waukee High School has won the class 4A high jump championship and could win more titles in the 100m hurdle open and the shuttle hurdle relay! What a season Maddie is having, we couldn’t be happier for her!
Both the boys and girls track teams at Waukee are having great seasons so far. The coaches have really done a great job for both teams. The girls team is lead by head coach Jesse Hunt and assistant coaches Erica Douglas, Brandon Morton, Matt Dries, and Laura Calvert. The boys team is lead by head coach Brent Heitland and assistant coaches Dave Lathrop, Josh Maxwell, Mark Stallman, Will Dotson, and Laura Calvert. The boys and girls team had many relays and individuals qualify for the Drake Relays and the State Meet this week. As if that wasn’t enough both teams won the Conference Meet and the District Meet as well. Congratulations to both teams and good luck at the State Meet this week!

Gilbert’s Chichi Adeleke was one of the hardest workers at Acceleration Iowa this past winter and that hard work has been paying off this track season. Since last year her 200m dropped 3 seconds and her 400m has dropped over 4 seconds. After placing 1st in the 3 events and 2nd in another at districts last week she will be running 4 events at the state track meet this week. Just days after the Des Moines Register praised Acceleration Iowa athlete Jake Campos as being the top recruit in the state, Jake has made his decision on where he will be playing in 2013. Yesterday Jake committed to the University of Missouri! Jake becomes the second Acceleration Iowa athlete to accept a scholarship from the Tigers this year! The other is Tyler Donels from Southeast Polk who will be running track for the Tigers. Hopefully now Jake can rest his mind and focus on repeating as State Champs next fall! Congratulations Jake!! Sophomore Corbin Lowe has had a lot of success this track season. He has the sophomore record at Waukee in the 200m dash and now has the record in the 400m dash at 50.13 which is a top 20 time in the whole state and good enough for 1st at conference. His times have been getting better all year which is a testament to the coaching staff at Waukee and his commitment to getting better!
Jake Campos, Sam Raridon, and Jon Wisnieski are regarded as the top 3 football recruits in the state for the class of 2013. Not only do they all hail from West Des Moines but they are all Acceleration Iowa athletes. The Des Moines Register published an article is past Monday giving praise to the three recruits. All three of these athletes have been given scholarship offers by Iowa and many other BCS schools. We would like to congratulate Jake, Sam, and Jon for the recognition that they have received. Our staff is excited to work with and help these young men become the best athletes they can and help them achieve their goal of playing at the next level!!

Reggie the Waukee Director and his wife Laura Hoegh added a new member to their family on May 1st at 9:15 A.M. His name his Beau Scott Hoegh and he weighed 7lbs 6oz. Beau has an older brother Ryan who is 20 months old and both boys will be training at AI as soon as possible!
